端午節喇！It's Dragon Boat Festival!

It was Dragon Boat Festival this week.

Dragon Boat Festival is usually sung as the memorial of the good-officials, such as Wut Yun (Mandarin: Qu Yuan), in Hong Kong.

In different areas of the East, such as Korea and Vietnam, there are different origins and names of the Dragon Boat Festival, hence quite a several kinds of rice dumplings due to local cultures.

In Hong Kong, the most common kind is the Salty Sticky Rice Dumpling with a nice fatty pork in the middle.

啱啱個禮拜四係端午節。

喺香港，端午節嘅起源通常被描述成紀念忠臣，尤其係屈原嘅節日。

其實喺亞洲唔同嘅地方，佢嘅起源同叫法都唔一樣，例如喺越南叫正陽節、喺韓國有江凌端午祭，絕非只係一個國家專屬嘅節日。所以唔同地區都因應當地文化有唔同種類嘅糭。

而喺香港呢度，最常見嘅就鹹鹹香香，大大舊肥豬肉嘅鹹水糭喇！

Hollywood in Hong Kong

Hong Kong seems to be in more and more Hollywood productions in the last couple of decades, especially the music industry.

Foreigners are mostly fascinated by the fact that Hong Kong has a very unique local culture as it has been the "perfect mixture" of the West and East cultures.

Some are amazed by how Hong Kong has been able to fit so many cultures in a place so small. Some are impressed that a good ratio of HongKongers are bilingual or even trilingual almost naturally. Yet we are also hardworking. Some also find the neon-light-city hypnotising, as if the city is asking them to stay for its incredible beauty.

10 Years Later, Blogging Again With A Different Purpose

Has been a good 10 years since I last blogged. Was just a school girl moaning about life without knowing much of it.

10 years later, hardly a school girl, with a heart of protecting and promoting Hong Kong's own local culture, here I am.

From this week on, there will be a weekly blog in collaboration with the "Hong Kong Concept" Facebook page. Everything you see there, written by me, will be on this blog weekly.
